Why Fremantle Art Works?

PAUL JACOBS - Artist, Art Educator and Visual Arts Consultant

Many people interested in making art have often asked me,

"When will you be holding painting and drawing classes?"

Well, the time has come!

I have completed nearly 38 years of Art Education as well as Studio Practice, and now have the opportunity to share my  knowledge and experiences with you in my studio!

I will teach you about painting and drawing, and guarantee that making art will be a fun and fascinating learning experience for you.

You will make art, take it home and feel very proud of
your own creations.

My classes comprise six students, so you will be given plenty of individual attention and opportunity to explore your own - often hidden - artistic talents.

Come join me on an adventure of visual learning.

Beginners' Art Classes

I have created for you two beginner art classes. These handcrafted classes will send you on a exciting journey of self discovery through the discipline of drawing and painting. Select your preference or enjoy both media. Drawing Class will be held on a Tuesday and the Painting Class on a Wednesday.
All classes are six weeks in length.

About Paul Jacobs

Paul’s qualifications include B.Ed., B.A. and B.A. (Hons. Art). He has a long history of imparting his knowledge about the visual arts to students of all ages. Paul has lectured in art education at Notre Dame University, Longmore and Nyandi Children's Remand and Assessment Centres, TAFE College and lectured in Baucau, East Timor. He has taught in a number of Perth metropolitan high schools, and recently ended a 32 year career at Aquinas College in order to pursue his own art work and branch out in to teaching adult art classes.

Paul is a practicing artist who loves to explore the boundaries of design principles through a number of media. The combination of extensive teaching experience with practical application means that Paul is able to draw on contemporary teaching principles to ensure that his students are equipped with high quality evidence-based teaching methodology. Paul reads widely and maintains his knowledge about “Best Practice” in Art Education, so that his students receive targeted instruction.

Fremantle has been Paul’s home for over 35 years, and he is well known in the local art world. In addition, he has held many successful solo as well as group exhibitions of works that showcased his passion for capturing images.

Finally, Paul is a born teacher - he won’t rest until his students have understood a new concept or demonstrated a new principle. He is driven by the desire to expand people’s horizons and, as such, he is prepared to go that “extra mile” to ensure that all his students, young or old, leave his courses with a high degree of satisfaction.
